In
an improvisational setting, I write pieces, express
visions and elicit emotional
responses through verbal narratives.
I
give the musicians a detailed story, and we discuss
the various aspects of the piece...be it abstract,
dream state, or automatism.
Sometimes
the entire group will play the concept as a whole,
other times the narratives can be instrument/voice
specific, taking certain parts of the narrative
and sticking with the improvisations they invented
for that part.
The
narrative thus becomes the harmonic and rhythmic
structure of the piece.
Each
player is free to interpret their part as they
feel it, therefore the same people could play
the same piece over and over with a different
outcome each time.
No
charts available in advance, we wouldn't want
to spoil the surprise.
